一代傳奇，往往源於英年早逝。
生於1947年的 Tim Buckley，是樂壇的傳奇人物。他13歲那年跟友人組樂隊，演唱民謠；高中未畢業，就推出首張個人專輯。本來前途無可限量的歌手，卻因過度嗑藥，28歲就與世長辭，留下的，是九張人人讚頌的專輯，還有血脈相連的兒子 Jeff
Buckley。
Jeff
Buckley 對於這位在樂壇享負盛名的父親並沒有甚麼感情。他未出生以前，父親已經與母親 Mary 離婚；到他出生後，父親又忙著自己的音樂事業，只在他還未懂事時，偶爾來看望他。可是在 1991年，Jeff 卻收到邀請，希望他能在追悼父親的音樂會上，獻唱父親的名曲。而這件事，就成了電影【歌聲中呼喚愛】(Greetings from Tim Buckley) 的主線。
電影以 Jeff 的轉變為軸心，當中插入 Tim Buckley 的點滴。故事平淡似水，卻處處透露暖意。名人之後從不易為，尤其是 Jeff 對於這位父親根本毫無認識，又怎會甘於活在他的陰影下？不過血緣這回事十分奇妙，Jeff 最終還是繼承了父親的位置，成了樂壇另一傳奇。
可惜的是，Jeff 跟父親一樣英年早逝。他在推出首張專輯 Grace 後就遇溺身亡，享年30歲。
