朋友替上司翻譯計劃書，當中有「上架項目」一詞，朋友將之譯作 items on shelf，但看來看去總覺得怪怪的，於是找栗來問。栗查 OALD 8，在 shelf 詞條下見到以下諺語，但都不合「上架項目」之意：

1 not wanted by anyone; not used (沒人要，沒用)

2 (old-fashioned)
(especially of women) considered to be too old to get married (已過結婚之齡的女人，即「剩女」)

off
the shelf

that can be bought immediately and does not
have to be specially designed or ordered (可以立即購買，不必預訂) 

回公司問外籍同事，他們都沒聽過 items on shelf 這種說法。英籍俊爸說，英文有 off the peg 這句諺語 (美式是 off the rack，OALD 8 相關詞條)，但一般指買衣服，不能用來指書店新上架的書籍。同事替栗想了又想，覺得最接近的翻譯只有 in
stock。雖然跟中文似乎還有一段很遠距離，但朋友最終還是接受了。

不過栗妹還是忍不住要問句：大家可想到更好的翻譯？
